How to Make Tacos | Easy Ground Beef Taco Meat Recipe
Hello and welcome back to In the Kitchenwith Matt I am your host Matt Taylor
today I'm gonna show you how to maketacos oh yeah I love me some tacos
I had requests to make a video on tacosso here we go I'm also going to show off
this really cool taco platter that I gotfrom Kinley and Kinley happens to be the
sponsor of today's episode tacos arereally easy to do and very versatile you
can make tacos with a hard shell you canmake them with a like a soft tortilla
like a flour tortilla or corn tortillaor you can leave out the tortilla
altogether and just do like a taco saladso many things you can do with it
however you want to do it this is how Ilike to do it really easy to do if I can
do it you can do it let's get startedfirst let's go ahead and start off by
making our taco meat everything else ispretty much just chopping up a little
vegetables and things and cheese gratingcheese and things like that which will
go on as toppings I'm not gonna show toomuch of that but I'm going to show you
how to make this awesome taco meat andwe're gonna start with a little Bowl
here and we were gonna add in 2teaspoons of chili powder 1/2 teaspoon
of garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon of onionpowder 1/4 teaspoon of oregano 1
teaspoon of ground cumin 1 teaspoon ofsalt and 1/4 teaspoon of ground black
pepper and down below in the descriptionI'll list all these ingredients so you
don't have to memorize them and I'm justgonna come in here and just mix this up
a little bit perfect and now I also have1/2 cup of tomato sauce this is just an
unsalted normal store brand tomato saucelet's take all three of these over to
the stove top alright here we are overat the stove top I got my skillet I have
about a tablespoon of olive oil in thereI have it set to medium heat which is
about 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 176Celsius and now what I want to do is I
want to drop in my ground beef becausethese are gonna be beef tacos this is
gonna be one pound ok
and now we just want to brown thisreally well some other meat that you
might want to do you might want to dolike grilled chicken you might want to
do like chorizo there's you can do likeshrimp or fish the meat is totally up to
you but I just really wanted to show youhow to make this really cool beef taco
meat and this beef is 80% lean you canpretty much use whatever you want but
you want a little bit of fat content inwith the beef because they'll add flavor
to your meat now some of you might bewondering why I haven't add the
seasonings and the tomato sauce yetthat's because we want to brown the meat
first and then we want to drain itthere's gonna be a lot of extra fat in
the pan that we want to drain and so ifwe were to add the seasonings now and
the sauce when we drained it we wouldjust lose a lot of our flavor so we'll
just do that in a little bit here allright now that it's all pretty much
brown there might be some parts that oldpink it's alright we're gonna cook those
off a little bit later let's go aheadnow and drain it to drain it what I like
to do is just take it and tilt it on itsside and let all the fat go accumulate
in the bottom there and then I'll justtake a spoon and go like that there's a
variety of methods that you can use todrain it this is just what I like to do
I find this works fine all right I gotpretty much most of that out I have a
left about a tablespoon of it in therejust to help add a little bit more
moisture to the meat alright at thispoint what we want to do is we want to
add in all of our spices and add in our1/2 cup of tomato sauce and the tomato
sauce is just going to help keepeverything together it's going to coat
the meat and allow some of the spices tostay on the meat
so just go ahead and give that a reallygood mix and then I'm just gonna turn
the heat to about medium medium-low andwe're just gonna let that meat and the
sauce just cook together a little bitand let everything kind of meld together
oh yeahand we'll just let it cook for about
another three minutes or so and we'lljust stir it occasionally also at this
point what you might want to do is justgive it a little taste hmm oh yeah
that's great I don't think it needsanything extra but at that point you
might want to add any more of thoseseasonings depending on your own taste
um so I encourage you just make it firstthis like this first time and then make
it your ownafter that all right there we go our
beef taco meat is ready to go let's goassemble some tacos all right let's take
a look at this ceramic taco servingplatter by Ken Lee first of all it's 13

This recipe for ground beef taco meat is really easy to make. In order to make a great taco you need to start with some yummy meat. I really like ground beef tacos, but you can switch out the beef with grilled chicken, shrimp, fish, etc. Although the seasonings used are particular to ground beef, you may use all or some of the seasonings for different meats/fish, etc. In the video I also show off my awesome ceramic taco platter that I got from Kenley.
